00:01: The future first lady Melania Trump has indicated that she wants to live primarily in the White House in Washington in the future. “I will be in the White House,” the 54-year-old told Fox TV on Monday. “If I have to be in New York, I’ll be in New York, if I have to be in Palm Beach, I’ll be in Palm Beach,” she continued. “But my first priority will be to be a mother, to be a first lady and to be a wife.” Their son Barron is now attending college in New York and will come over to visit.
During her husband Donald Trump’s first term as US President (2017-2021), Melania caused irritation because she initially did not move with him to the address 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but instead stayed in New York.
7:54 p.m.: US President-elect Donald Trump appeared impressed after a meeting with Democratic Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania. “It was a totally fascinating meeting. He’s a fascinating man and his wife is lovely. I couldn’t be more impressed,” Trump said. Trump particularly highlighted Fetterman’s pragmatic attitude: “He’s not a liberal or a conservative. He’s just a person with common sense, which is wonderful.”
Fetterman, who had previously ironically described the meeting as a discussion about his possible title as “Pope of Greenland,” said he sees himself as a senator for all citizens of his state, Pennsylvania, and is open to discussions with all sides. Trump stated that topics such as the steel industry, border security and geopolitical issues were discussed and spoke enthusiastically about Fetterman’s wife: “She was really fantastic.”
