Vivan Bahlmann Steps In to Moderate RTL’s “RTL aktuell” Sports News

A fresh face will appear in the studio at RTL as the year draws to a close. Today, Vivan Bahlmann, 34, makes her debut in front of the television camera for the Cologne-based broadcaster. Starting at 6:45 PM CET, she will moderate the sports news segment of “RTL Aktuell,” the network’s flagship news program.
Bahlmann is filling in for colleague Anna Kraft, 40, who is sidelined due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sustained in a skiing accident shortly before Christmas. The injury will require Kraft to take a leave of absence from her duties.
A Long-Held Dream Realized
For Bahlmann,this prospect represents the fulfillment of a lifelong ambition. Inspired by her grandmother’s admiration for veteran German broadcaster Peter Klöppel, she initially applied to RTL’s journalism school – and was accepted. She completed her training there from 2019 to 2021. Since then, she has worked as a reporter for both RTL and NTV. Her reporting has included coverage of the 2022 Basketball European Championship in Berlin and the 2023 NFL Games in London. Currently,she also moderates “Complete,” a Bundesliga show on RTL+,on a bi-weekly basis.
In a recent Instagram story, Bahlmann expressed her emotions, stating, “It’s the craziest day ever, ever, ever professionally for me. I get to make my debut tonight on RTL Aktuell in sports moderation. I’m tense, I’m excited, I’m nervous, and I’m incredibly happy to be doing this.”

From Early Morning Reporting to Prime-Time Debut
Bahlmann’s day began early, with a 4:30 AM wake-up call for an assignment with NTV, appearing on camera by 7:00 AM. immediately after completing that broadcast, she received the news of her assignment to “RTL Aktuell.” She returned home for a swift nap and a meal of pasta before heading back to the studio.
Beyond the Broadcast: A Rugby Star and Scholar
Bahlmann brings more than just television experience to the role.She is also a member of the German national rugby team, having played the sport since the age of twelve. She has represented Germany in numerous international competitions.
