The finalists for the Vixen Awards are now ready, and the winners will be announced on January 31 at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Oslo.
The award ceremony will be streamed live on VG.
The public nominations have poured in, the votes have been counted, and the jury has done extensive work assessing this year’s finalists in a total of 16 categories. Jury leader Camilla Kim Kielland, agency manager at Morgenstern, can reveal that as many as 1470 influencers have been nominated, and she believes it should feel like a victory to be a finalist at this year’s vixen Awards.
A total of 236,000 votes have been cast across 12 diffrent categories.
A broader theme than ever before
In recent years, we have seen creativity and playful communication of significant topics among influencers. New categories in the Vixen Awards reflect how society is evolving and what the population is concerned about.
Yrja Oftedahl, entrepreneur, podcaster, and speaker, is the jury leader in the Knowledge and Health categories. She says there are many solid candidates this year and that it has been challenging to select finalists.
– It has been exciting to judge in these categories. In the “Knowledge” category, there are many profiles who communicate difficult topics in an understandable way, reaching a wide audience. Hear we have everything from themes about death to legal advice, the jury leader explains.
Dag robert Jerijervi, editorial manager at Kampanje,is the jury leader in the Strong Opinions,Sustainability, and Business categories. He is impressed by the development in the industry.
– The number of strong opinions has increased exponentially in line with the growth of TikTok. It is also a trend that influencers face an expectation from followers to take a stand on various topics. The common denominator for our finalists is that the engagement they show is heartfelt and that they manage to break through the sound barrier and reach out to more than just their own audience, he says.
Intense competition
Jury leader kielland sees a clear distinction emerging between quality and quantity in the influencer market.
– This applies both in creative content and in the engagement that influencers are able to create among their followers. The threshold for becoming an influencer is low, as everyone has free access to publishing platforms, and because there are many role models to look up to.But the competition to be among the best and most original is still high – as it requires enormous amounts of time, creativity, and stamina, she explains.
And to reach the top, you must have the ability to create engagement through your own platforms.

What criteria are considered by the jury when evaluating influencers for the Vixen Awards?
Interview: Time.news Editor with Camilla Kim Kielland, Jury Leader of the Vixen Awards
Editor: Good day, Camilla! We’re thrilled to have you with us today. The anticipation for the Vixen Awards is palpable! With 1,470 influencers nominated and 236,000 votes cast, can you share how that feels as one of the jury leaders?
Camilla: Thank you! It’s a pleasure to be here. The energy around the Vixen Awards is truly exhilarating. Being part of the jury this year, I can attest that this level of participation speaks volumes about the influencers’ dedication and the public’s engagement. It’s spectacular to see so many people passionate about recognizing talent in the influencer space.
Editor: Indeed! You mentioned earlier that being a finalist feels like a victory in itself. Can you elaborate on what criteria the jury considered while assessing this year’s finalists?
Camilla: absolutely! We focused on innovation and authenticity in the content creators’ approaches. There’s a clear distinction between quantity and quality in today’s influencer market. With so many platforms available, the competition is fierce, but the best stand out through thier creativity, commitment, and the genuine engagement they cultivate with their audience.
Editor: It must have been challenging with so many nominees! I heard your colleague, Yrja Oftedahl, talk about the “Knowledge” category. It sounds fascinating that influencers are tackling complex topics. How crucial is it for influencers to communicate serious issues in relatable ways?
Camilla: It’s incredibly important! In today’s social climate, audiences seek deeper connections and understanding from influencers. Those who can translate complex subjects – be it legal, health-related, or more abstract themes like death – into digestible and engaging content provide immense value. It shows that influencers have a responsibility and an opportunity to educate their followers while being entertaining.
Editor: That’s a crucial point. Dag Robert Jerijervi also noted the exponential increase in strong opinions among influencers, particularly on platforms like TikTok.How do you think this trend reflects modern societal values?
Camilla: It reflects a important shift towards authenticity and openness. Audiences are looking for influencers who not only entertain but also take a stance on issues that resonate with them. This trend does two things: it encourages influencers to use their platforms wisely and fosters a culture of engagement where followers feel connected to their influencers on a more profound level.
Editor: Shifting gears to the future of influencers, what are you most excited about with the Vixen Awards moving forward?
Camilla: The evolution of content creation is incredibly exciting! As the influencer landscape continues to grow, we’re likely to see more innovative ways that creators connect with their audiences. The introduction of new categories reflects how society is changing and the diverse interests of the public. I can’t wait to see how these influencers push boundaries, embrace new mediums, and spark dialogues!
Editor: Lastly, could you share a sneak peek about what’s in store for the viewers on January 31? How can they engage with the event?
Camilla: Absolutely! the awards ceremony will be live-streamed on VG, so everyone can tune in to celebrate with us. Expect a night filled with inspiration, creativity, and a few surprises! Viewers can engage through social media, using the official hashtags, and vote for their favorite moments during the show. The support from the public adds to the vibrancy of the event.
Editor: Thank you, Camilla! It’s been a pleasure discussing the Vixen Awards with you. We’ll be eagerly watching on January 31!
