Volleyball Nations League Set to Deliver Thrilling Rematches and Debuts This Summer

The Volleyball Nations League (VNL) is poised to ignite passions across multiple continents this summer, featuring highly anticipated rematches of recent championship finals and the debut of a determined Ukrainian squad. The competition, spanning three weeks, will showcase some of the world’s top volleyball talent as teams battle for coveted spots in the Macao finals.

Week One: Nanjing, Brasilia, and Quebec City Kick Off the Action

The opening week of competition, beginning June 3, promises immediate drama. In Nanjing, China, the host nation will face a formidable challenge in their final pool match on June 7, taking on Poland, the bronze medalists from the previous three VNL seasons. The encounter is scheduled for 19:00 local time (11:00 GMT).

Meanwhile, at the Arena BRB Nilson Nelson in Brasilia, fans will witness compelling contests, including a replay of last year’s FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship final between Türkiye and reigning world and Olympic champions Italy on June 6 at 15:30 (18:30 GMT). The following day, June 7, will feature a rematch of last year’s VNL final between host nation Brazil and defending champions Italy at 14:30 (17:30 GMT).

Across the Atlantic, the Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Canada, will host the VNL debut of Ukraine against the powerhouse USA – three-time VNL champions and silver medalists from the Paris 2024 Olympics – on June 3 at 11:00 (15:00 GMT).

Week Two: A Highly Anticipated Olympic Rematch

The second week of competition will build on the momentum, culminating in a particularly significant match. A replay of the last Olympic final between the United States and Italy is scheduled for June 20 at 16:00 (08:00 GMT) in the Philippines.

Week Three: Asia Takes Center Stage

As the competition intensifies and the race for Macao heats up, the third week will shift focus to Asia. In Ankara, Turkey, home fans will be treated to a showdown between Türkiye and China on June 21 at 19:30 (16:30 GMT).

The Asue Arena in Kansai will be a hotbed of activity, showcasing the prowess of Japan. The home team is slated for a series of compelling matches: a rematch of last year’s spectacular semifinal against Brazil on July 8, an all-Asian derby against Thailand on July 9, a replay of last year’s quarterfinal against Türkiye on July 11, and a rematch of last year’s bronze medal match against Poland on July 12, all beginning at 19:20 (10:20 GMT).

Finally, a high-profile duel between China and Italy will close out the competition week at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong on July 12 at 20:00 (12:00 GMT).

The upcoming VNL promises a summer filled with thrilling volleyball action, intense rivalries, and the pursuit of glory on the international stage.
