Binghamton Volleyball Sweeps America East Weekly Awards with Three Honorees

Binghamton University volleyball achieved a historic milestone this week, with three players recognized by the America East Conference for their outstanding performances.

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton Bearcats volleyball team is riding high after a week of dominant play, culminating in a sweep of the America East Conference weekly awards, announced Tuesday. The team secured crucial victories over UAlbany and NJIT, improving their conference record to 5-3. This marks the first time this season the Bearcats have received three weekly awards, signaling a turning point in their campaign.

Dimitrova Earns Player of the Week Honors

Victoria Dimitrova, a sophomore right-side hitter from Sofia, Bulgaria, was named America East Player of the Week. Dimitrova delivered back-to-back performances with over 20 kills, a feat unmatched by any other player in the conference this season. She first recorded a career-high 21 kills in a 3-1 win against UAlbany, adding 12 digs for her third double-double of the season. She then surpassed her own record with 22 kills in a hard-fought 3-2 victory over NJIT.

According to team records, Dimitrova is the first Bearcat to achieve consecutive 20+ kill games since December 2024, when Tsvetelina Ilieva accomplished the same. She was also recognized as Rookie of the Week on November 12, 2024, alongside Ilieva and Lottie Scully.

Kadel Sets the Standard as Setter of the Week

Regan Kadel was awarded Setter of the Week after delivering two career-best performances. Kadel orchestrated the Bearcats’ offense with a remarkable 52 assists in the win over UAlbany, followed by an even more impressive 60 assists against NJIT. This makes her the only player in the America East Conference to reach 60 assists in a single game this season, and the first Bearcat to do so since 2022, when Scully recorded 64.

Coblentz-Brown Continues Rookie Dominance

Maya Coblentz-Brown secured her fourth Rookie of the Week honor, demonstrating consistent excellence throughout the season. The promising freshman totaled 29 kills across the two matches, averaging 3.22 kills per set with a .381 hitting percentage. Coblentz-Brown joins an exclusive group in program history, becoming only the third player to be named Rookie of the Week at least four times in a single season, following Giulia Bonifacio (7 times in 2022) and Lauren Kornmann (4 times in 2016).

Looking Ahead: Senior Day Showdown

The Bearcats will return to action this Friday for Senior Day at the Events Center, hosting Bryant. The first serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
