Twenty-four missiles probably made in North Korea used in Ukraine since the end of December, according to the attorney general

The Russian army has fired at least twenty-four ballistic missiles probably manufactured in North Korea since the end of December, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin announced on Friday.

“So far, at least twenty-four ballistic missiles probably produced in North Korea have been used in Russian missile attacks on the territory of Ukraine. In total, between December 30, 2023 and February 7, 2024, the enemy launched at least twelve attacks on seven regions of Ukraine with this type of missiles. These are Zaporizhia, Kiev (three attacks), Kharkiv (two attacks), as well as towns and villages in the Kirovohrad, Poltava, Donetsk and Dnipro regions. These attacks killed fourteen civilians and injured more than seventy others.he told the press, according to comments reported by the agency Interfax-Ukraine.

The information on the origin of the missiles, he said, was confirmed by the Central Armaments Research Institute of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and the interagency working group of the Prosecutor General’s Office, which analyzed in detail the places where they fell and their debris.

“These missiles have different marking numbers and symbols, which may indicate their Korean origin. In addition, the nature and extent of the destruction (crater size, impact) as well as the flight path were different. In other words, these missiles have a larger diameter than similar models of Russian and Soviet origin.he continued, questioning their accuracy.

“Of the twenty-four missiles fired, we are aware of two relatively specific strikes: the Kremenchuk oil refinery and the technical zone of the Kanatove airfield. The other missiles either exploded in mid-air or hit residential areas of Kharkiv”said the prosecutor, adding that their range is of the order of 650 kilometers.
