Santiago Sanchez, a Spanish citizen who went missing while on a walking trip to Qatar to watch the World Cup matches, has reportedly been arrested in Iran. Since October 1st, there has been no information about Santiago.
It is reported that Santiago was arrested by Iran’s intelligence agency from Sakhas, a border region of Iran. Santiago recently visited the burial site of Mahsa Amini, a Kurdish woman who died in the custody of the Iranian Religious Affairs Police. It is reported that the arrest was made after this.
Kurdish human rights organizations and European media have confirmed the arrest. But the Spanish authorities are not ready to respond in this regard. In January, Santiago left Spain for Qatar to watch the World Cup and disappeared after crossing the Iraqi border.
