The latest expansion follows a previous announcement in June 2025, which outlined plans for stores in Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. Currently, the service is available at several locations in Atlanta and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Wing now operates at around 27 stores and aims to reach 270 Walmart locations offering drone delivery by 2027.
Rising demand for Wing’s drone delivery service
The growth isn’t just about expansion; it’s about demand. Wing reports that its top 25% of customers order three times a week, and overall deliveries have tripled in the last six months. Customers are clearly finding value in this speedy, convenient delivery option.
Drone specifications and delivery process
Wing’s drones are surprisingly capable. The standard model can carry up to 1.13kg, while newer versions manage up to 2.27kg. They can complete a 19km round trip at speeds of 105km/h. Deliveries are contactless: drones use tethers and hooks to pick up small bags and lightweight cardboard boxes from designated spots in Walmart parking lots and gently lower them to customers’ front lawns.
Wing’s drone delivery service has completed 750,000 deliveries
Since launching in 2012, Wing has completed an impressive 750,000 deliveries. The company also partners with DoorDash for drone delivery in Dallas and Charlotte, North Carolina, demonstrating the versatility and reliability of its technology across different markets.
