Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc has received the ‘Green Factory Award-2023’ in the electrical and electronics product manufacturing sector. This award was given to Walton in consideration of essential conservation, environmental conservation, institutional conservation and innovative activities under the policies of the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
On Sunday (April 28), Walton was presented with the ‘Green Factory Award-2023’ at a function organized at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital.
Bangladesh National Parliament Speaker Dr. Eva Rizwana Nilu, Additional Managing Director (AMD) of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc received the award from Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury. Walton’s Senior Executive Director Sharif Harunur Rashid Chani was present with him at this time.
State Minister of Labor and Employment Nazrul Islam Chowdhury and International Labor Organization (ILO) Bangladesh Country Director Tumo Potiinen were present as special guests on the occasion.
On the occasion of the National Occupational Health and Safety Day, Labor and Employment Secretary Md presided over the event organized jointly by the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Directorate of Factories and Institutions. Mahbub Hossain.
Reacting to the award, Eva Rizwana Nilu, MD, Walton Hi-Tech Industries, said, “The Walton family is extremely happy and proud to be presented with the Green Factory Award. Thanks to the Ministry of Labor and Employment and all concerned for this prestigious award.
He said that Walton has been playing a leading role in the country’s self-sufficiency in the production of electrical and electronic products since its inception. Bangladesh has developed an international environment-friendly electric and electronics product manufacturing industry. Eco-friendly technology products are being produced there with the latest machinery in the world. Those products are being exported to more than 40 countries of the world to meet the needs of the country. Products which were once imported into the country are now being exported to earn foreign exchange. Undoubtedly, it is a matter of great pride as a nation. The honor of the country and the people is being uplifted. All these are possible due to the industry friendly policies of the present government. He expressed strong optimism that this policy support will continue and expand.
The ‘Green Factory Award’ has been introduced to encourage the competitive participation of Sonar Bangla Birniman, the father of the nation’s dream, by ensuring more production through the use of environment-friendly technology and efficient labor force in a safe and dignified working environment, and by accelerating and sustaining the pace of the country’s economy. This year, a total of 29 industries including Walton in 12 sectors have received this award.
