by time news

When they invaded Ukraine, Putin’s troops did not shy away from committing war crimes!

Russian soldiers shot the mayor of Hostomel, Yuri Prylypko, as he was distributing bread and medicines to the citizens of his city. The two helpers Ruslanom Karpenkom and Ivan Zorya also died in the hail of bullets, according to the Hostomel municipal administration Facebook informed.

The city with 16,000 inhabitants has been fiercely fought over since the beginning of the war. Russian troops with tanks and motorized infantry are currently trying to take the place. Because: Hostomel is only about 25 kilometers northwest of Kyiv and has a military airfield – ideal for an offensive on the Ukrainian capital.

In the meantime, the Russian soldiers managed to smuggle paratroopers to Kyiv via the airfield. However, a little later, Ukrainian troops were able to destroy the runway.

Most of Hostomel’s original 16,000 residents have fled. The survivors are threatened with a humanitarian catastrophe due to the ongoing fighting.

Putin prepares attack on Kyiv

Russia today began collecting materials for the storming of the Ukrainian capital, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army said on Facebook. Advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of the Interior, Wadym Denysenko, strikes a similar note: “We assume that the battle for Kyiv will be the key battle in the next few days,” he said on TV on Sunday evening.

︎ An indication of the upcoming battle: Russia has announced a local ceasefire for 10 a.m. (8 a.m. German time) so that civilians can flee Kyiv via so-called humanitarian corridors. This also applies to the embattled cities of Kharkiv, Mariupol and Sumy. Once the civilians have cleared the battlefield, the battle could begin.

At the same time, the Russian army is trying to conquer several suburbs and thus gain a strategic advantage in the battle for the capital. In Irpin, a small town on the northwestern city limits of Kyiv, the Russians are advancing with tanks and motorized infantry. Fighting has been going on there since Sunday. The neighboring town of Bucha is also a strategic target for Putin’s troops.

According to the Ukrainian general staff, Putin’s army wants to attack the eastern flank of the capital via the Brovary and Boryspil districts.

It is doubtful whether Putin intends to invade Kyiv directly. It is much more likely that he wants to put a tight siege around the city, taking all the suburbs and the city and its defenders – tens of thousands of soldiers, then starve.
