Measures to Address Water Issues in Calabria and Reggio Calabria
The municipal administration of Reggio Calabria, led by Mayor Giusy Caminiti, has outlined the measures being taken to address the water issues affecting the Villese territory.
Despite reporting a current stable situation, the mayor emphasized the activation of the Municipal Operations Center (COC) for water emergency management and the deployment of tanker services upon request.
The concerted efforts over the past two years have reportedly prevented widespread inconvenience, with water tanks experiencing nighttime closures to ensure daytime supply to homes. However, some issues have emerged in hilly areas (Piale and Ferrito), with some homes experiencing water scarcity. Urgent action is being taken to alleviate this.
The mayor also referenced a June mayoral ordinance that temporarily restricted non-essential water consumption to prioritize domestic and hygienic needs. Additionally, the regional president, Roberto Occhiuto, declared a state of emergency due to the severe water deficit.
