Wayanad: The search is on for the tiger that went down to the populated areas of Kurukkanmoola and killed the pets. It is concluded that the tiger is hiding somewhere in Payyampally and Koilery areas. Foresters and police are camping in these areas. Steps will also be taken today to replace the surveillance cameras and cages installed at Kurukkanmoola. It is also suspected that the tiger left the inhabited areas and entered the Kattikulam forest. Meanwhile, the ban continues in eight wards of Mananthavady municipality.

The forest department is still in the dark, unable to catch the tiger. The attempt by the forest department officials to attack the angry locals had led to clashes yesterday. Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi has written to the Chief Minister asking him to intensify the process.

The tiger was spotted by locals traveling in a car yesterday morning. They informed the forest department but the search was not carried out properly. The Forest Department team led by Wildlife Warden Narendra Babu reached the spot around 9 am. It is alleged that the officials tried to assault the angry Municipal Councilor Vipin Venugopal. According to locals, one of the forest department employees tried to attack him with a knife in his waist during the clash.

Mananthavady MLA OR Kellu came on the scene against the forest department officials. Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the tiger was released. The tiger was captured on a CCTV camera at a private company in Payyampally.
