The Chairman of the International Crisis Group, Comfort Eron, along with the EU civilian observation mission in Armenia, conducted a patrol on the border with Azerbaijan. He revealed this in a post on X.
“It is surprising to see how close the battle positions of both sides are in populated areas. The decision of the EU to increase the staff of the mission in Armenia is welcome. The villagers still hear frequent shootings, but the number of victims has decreased in recent months,” wrote Eyro, noting that if Baku and Yerevan involve the EU observation mission, it can help prevent incidents and start cooperation in cross-border projects.
The crisis group calls on both sides to return to peace negotiations, including border demarcation. The efforts of the Western partners to follow the developments are an important means of creating conditions for negotiations,” wrote the president of the International Crisis Group.
