Marc Jacobs has already started a hairstyle trend. When he sent all the models down the runway at a show in 2013 with a black mullet, the miraculous rise of the once precarious men’s hairstyle began. Today the mullet is a wild classic that has long since found its way into the hair establishment and we see it every day in Berlin alone.

On Friday there was a new hair coup: In a historic building on the Upper East Side in New York, Marc Jacobs celebrated the 40th anniversary of his brand with perhaps the greatest hairstyles in the world. Literally, because the mountains of hair on the heads of the models who presented his new spring collection were truly gigantic.

The piled-up manes emphasized the doll-like appearance of the women, which was rounded off by stiff clothing and oversized furniture on the set. What a look!

The renowned hairstylist Duffy really did a great job. However, a look behind the scenes reveals that the mannequins’ real hair was spared in the Marc Jacobs show and wigs were used.

Then it doesn’t count, are you now thinking with relief? Far from it, Guido Palau, the hairstylist for Jacob’s mullet show in 2013, also worked with wigs – and the hairstyle caught on. If a trend fits the times, then it will come. The art is to translate the idea into reality. Whether with or without a wig – but to be on the safe side, let your hair grow out.
