The head of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muftin, confirmed that the plan that was drawn up aims to prepare an Olympic champion who will achieve achievement according to solid scientific standards and revive the sport that has suffered from slumber during the past period.
Muftin told the (INA): “The desired goal since assuming the presidency of the Olympic Committee is to create an Olympic champion, so an eight-year plan was drawn up according to international standards in an effort to achieve high achievement,” indicating that “Iraqi sports were in a long slumber during the previous period.” We are now working to revitalize it and take care of the infrastructure for future sports.”
Muften added, “The Olympic Committee will hold an expanded conference during the coming period in which it will host experts and academics to listen to their opinions and discuss their ideas in a way that contributes to improving the reality of Iraqi sports,” explaining that “the Executive Office works in the spirit of one team and not for a special interest, but we seek to build a sound foundation for our successors in the field.” “Leading this institution allows him to work flexibly and comfortably.”
Moften continued, “The qualification of the hero, Ali Ammar, to the Paris Olympics was the result of great work and continuous effort, coupled with absolute support, in the hope of achieving a medal in the next Olympics.”
