NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview with the Welt am Sonntag newspaper that the North Atlantic Alliance should prepare for a long confrontation with Russia.
“NATO does not aspire to war with Russia, but we must arm ourselves for a possible confrontation with Russia, which could drag on for decades,” Stoltenberg said.
In this context, the Secretary General of NATO called to increase and speed up orders to European military industrial companies. According to him, in the conditions of the market economy, the arms manufacturers need signed contracts so that they can increase their production.
“We need to quickly rebuild and expand our industrial base so that we can increase supplies to Ukraine and replenish our own stockpile of weapons. It means a shift from the slow production of peacetime to the rapid production needed in times of conflict.
The best defense is to support Ukraine and invest in NATO’s military potential,” Stoltenberg said.
