According to Mher Grigoryan, the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, negotiations on gas prices are a continuous process.
“In reality, it does not stop and it is going on at the moment. I can say one thing: in fact, we have a consensus regarding the price of gas at the border and the tariff in RA territory, because we have been in difficult and long negotiations since 2019. “, he said in a conversation with journalists.
According to Mher Grigoryan, on the basis of the 2013 agreement, the 5th power unit, which is a thermal power plant, was built.
“Unfortunately, the plant is not working now, at the same time, all the investments made in Armenia by the Gazprom group must have an annual return of around 9 percent by virtue of the same 2013 agreement.” Naturally, the construction of the station is a serious and large investment, but today it does not generate the income that will ensure the profitability that is determined by the 2013 agreement, that issue remained on the agenda and continues to be discussed.
If we manage to find a solution to that issue, then we will have a very stable situation with the price of gas, although, you know, the price in the world has reached at least 940 dollars in the case of our 165, but even in that case, there will be no problems in the foreseeable future, if we will manage to find solutions related to the 5th energy block and find such an optimal mode of work that will ensure the logic arising from the 2013 agreement”, said the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia.
