Vahe Hovhannisyan, a member of the “Alternative Projects” group, and former deputy, published an article with the caption “Are Armenians still Armenians?”

Article below:

It seems to us that when we say “a Turk remains a Turk” and “a Russian remains a Russian” about others, others do not think the same about us.

First of all, they can refer to our historical primitivism, the historical deficit of state thinking and perception of statehood, our narrow personal mercantilism, the defect in the thinking of elites to see power and state resources as a means of personal enrichment, and other similar features.

Until our collective mind realizes that we are at the root of our historical tragedies and mistakes, and that Armenians must start changing, and new political currents are born, which are the carriers and spreaders of these ideas, defeats will always accompany us.

Only in the first days of the new year, the quality of public discussion in Armenia and Azerbaijan shows the difference in the state seriousness of both of us at this moment. Our public agenda is the broken shower, and in Azerbaijan they are discussing that BRICS will become a border with Azerbaijan from January 1 (taking into account that Iran is a new member of the organization from this year). Moreover, Russia is the chairman of BRICS this year.

BRICS is the perspective of the world economy, and therefore also the most important political and power center.

In Armenia, neither the government nor the opposition are talking about the fact that BRICS, where we can have strategic allies, has reached our border, more simply, it has reached Syunik. The most competent perspective to close the Syunik issue, to raise the weight of Armenia on the ground, is to implement large economic and infrastructural projects with the BRICS, with BRICS money, right now, in Syunik itself and throughout Armenia. Moreover, this year, Armenia is the chairman of EAEU.
We are playing “shower-shower” as a nation, wasting statehood under the leadership of elites without a plan and without strategic thinking.

We have built a state that serves ONE person with all its systems, and we wonder why the state is collapsing. Nikol has largely given his “shower” to all state and public institutions at his own discretion. Vagif Khachatryan’s trial in Baku is no different from Armen Ashotyan’s trial in Yerevan. zero difference of justice, jurisprudence, cynicism.
We Armenians have formed our systems of lying, undermining, keeping quiet, petty gain, and pretending to fight. It is our model of the state and now we wonder why the enemy is destroying it.

Until we change the questions, until we change the perspective of looking at our and the world’s issues, until we change, the losses will be continuous. No new year will change anything. sitting like this, year after year we will drag our heavy, unsolved questions and our inertial ideas that only lead to a dead end. Armenia must change, there is no other way. First, the decision-makers, the atmosphere-formers, the public agenda, morals, and then the general society must be changed.
