Russian forces continue to seize various cities in Ukraine and are busy seizing the capital, Kiev. Ukraine has said in the past few days that the Russian military has taken control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister has said that the power supply to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is damaged and that there is a risk of excessive radiation leaking from the cooling systems of the nuclear fuel storage facility if it is not repaired soon. He also accused Russia of endangering Europe.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported that the Russian-controlled Chernobyl nuclear power plant has been recaptured four days later. He added that the Ukrainian Atomic Energy Agency had informed him that it had repaired part of the faulty connection at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and that it could now supply all the power needed for the plant. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant is currently operating on a diesel generator and will soon be connected to the Ukrainian government’s power line.
