On various occasions, the President of Azerbaijan sends messages to the authorities of the Republic of Armenia to promise that there will be no revenge regarding the Artsakh issue in the future. A number of representatives of the Armenian government have publicly promised and assured on different occasions that there will be no rematch, that after signing the peace treaty with Azerbaijan, they will forget about the rematch, because the peace treaty is meant to exclude that.

In a conversation with 168.am, the leader of the Shirak Diocese, Archbishop Michael Adjapahyan, said that the question is multi-faceted, it is not difficult to answer, but it is not correct.

“When we say that we are not revanchist, it means that the other party must be non-revanchist as well. Let those non-revanchists advise Azerbaijan not to go for revenge, because Azerbaijan itself became a revenger, didn’t it? Therefore, let those who refuse rematch urge Azerbaijan to refuse, why didn’t they urge them?

But you see, Azerbaijan had revenge aspirations and realized its revenge even more. Therefore, in this context, our not being revanchist is foolishness. If we are not revanchists, it means that we are not a nation,” said the leader of the Shirak Diocese.

The bishop is in favor of compensation, and it should be.

“I won’t say that he will take revenge, but we must demand compensation. If we do not demand reparations, it means that we do not have the right to be a nation. This is the answer to the whole question,” concluded His Grace Archbishop Mikael Ajapakhyan.
