We obviously haven’t got some things right now that there are 52 disgruntled clubs

The president of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Lubomir Ganev, made a brief assessment of the 4-year mandate, which will expire at the end of September. On the 28th, a general meeting will be held, at which there will be elections for a new management board and its chairman. Today it became clear that Ganev is one of the two candidacies, the other being Ivan Seferinov.

Ganev spoke to the media today about the pros and cons during his tenure. He outlined the most important among them. He also commented on the work process in the federation and the specifics of this activity, emphasizing the volume and necessity of work. As the main priority for the federation, he indicated the children’s and youth sector.

Here are the statements of Lyubomir Ganev after the meeting:

“We look seriously at absolutely all submitted applications. Whoever is the chairman or member of the Board of Directors must work. We are a collective body and all decisions are made at the Board of Directors. It does not matter who is the chairman. If the vote is not unanimous, that chairman must secure at least some kind of majority in order for all decisions and ideas to be accepted.

I was thinking about running again, but I decided after receiving the support of so many clubs. I have nothing to worry about. It has to be worked on. I am sure that it will not be a problem for me to combine the role of Chairman of the Board of the BFW with the fact that I have already been elected as a member of the Board of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) and of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). whose congress will be in November.

Neither the Chairman of the Board nor any of the members receives any remuneration. We are all here because we love volleyball and it is in our hearts, and because we want to make this beloved sport go forward and get better and better.

We managed to invest significant financial resources in the children’s and youth sector. This summer we have seven medals from international championships, one of which is gold. And historically for the women’s direction (girls under 18).

I hope that our U20 team, who qualified for the final four of the European Championship yesterday, will also be able to fight for a medal.

I think that whoever will be the chairman of the Board will have to continue the work with adolescents. I’ve said it before: this is the base of the pyramid. I will give my absolute best, as I have always done.

For me, volleyball is a way of life. I will always help. Volleyball has created me as a person and a person, and I will always help it.

Certainly, with our colleagues from the Board of Directors, we managed to do a lot of things, but we didn’t have enough time for some things. Others turned out to be that we didn’t do as well as we would have liked. Mainly because of the lack of people. The Bulgarian Volleyball Federation has a lot of work to do. Over 10,000 are just the matches we organize every year. Especially in the children’s and youth sector, if the date does not coincide with a school holiday, a school championship or a camp with the national team – each of these things leads to subsequent upheavals.

Naturally, we report our mistakes and will report them to the general meeting. The fact is that we have allowed 52 clubs to express their displeasure, even though they have different views, but that means we have not got it right in a few of the committees.

We still do not manage to develop beach volleyball as we would like. Although we organize some tournaments, we fail to make the state championship. In the Children’s and Youth Volleyball Committee, some of the people who actively participated physically did not have this opportunity in the last year. Last minute changes were being made there, which is not good for structures like ours.

In the coaching committee, we have tried several approaches to select national coaches, including through competitions. I can say that we miss a man like Velasco in Italy. Undisputed luminary and authority. It is hard to find a person here who has proven himself so that everyone can trust him. We had some weaknesses and things that we didn’t manage to finish, although when I looked at the document with my campaign promises, in practice, out of the 30 things – we finished 28. However, when it came to disgruntled clubs, then we were wrong somewhere.
