The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan said in a conversation with journalists today that the construction of a new nuclear power unit is extremely important for Armenia, noting that they plan to make it so that the new power unit will be put into operation after the completion of the operation of the existing plant.
“Our main partner in this project is “Rosatom” and together we work in two directions. we have completed the stage of repair or acquisition of new equipment and this block of the nuclear power plant has been renewed by about 90 percent. “We continue to discuss with the partners of Rosatom and even prepare certain documents regarding further cooperation and the construction of the power unit,” said Gnel Sanosyan.
According to the minister, they do not yet know the final capacity of the new power unit.
“We plan to have at least the power plant that is there now. We are talking about the power of 400-450 MW. The number has not been specified yet, as a result of additional discussions and works, it will be specified,” said the minister.
