“The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia Aoki Yutaka presented his credentials to the President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturian.

Welcoming the ambassador, the president congratulated him on his appointment and wished him success during his diplomatic mission.

The President of the Republic specifically stated in his speech. “I am sure that the friendship between Armenia and Japan will deepen with your personal activities and efforts.

Diplomatic relations between our countries, since their establishment, have become special, they have been sincere, truly friendly and we have had effective interaction in all directions: political, economic and cultural.

All the programs implemented in Armenia with the support of the Japanese government have been important for the development of Armenia’s economy, and I am sure that they will continue.

We also value the role that Japan plays both in the world and in our region, which is committed to peace and the strengthening of democratic values.”

The newly appointed ambassador, thanking for the warm reception and words of appreciation, said. “Before arriving in Armenia and already here, I noticed how many people want the relations between our countries to develop further. Everyone says we have a lot in common and a lot of shared values. I will spare no effort to strengthen friendship and cooperation between our countries.”

During the meeting, issues regarding the perspectives and directions of development of multi-layered cooperation between Armenia and Japan were discussed. The presence of great potential for cooperation in the fields of high technologies and IT and the importance of activating the steps for its full implementation were emphasized.

During the conversation, the possibilities of promoting political dialogue between the two countries were touched upon, in this context, the necessity of high-level political mutual visits, as well as the need for continuous promotion of parliamentary diplomacy, was emphasized.

In his speech, President Vahagn Khachaturyan noted that mutual political visits of different levels, as well as active diplomatic, cultural contacts and sectoral cooperation contribute to the mutual recognition of the two peoples and strengthen the existing cooperation between the countries.

Ambassador Yutaka, referring to the continuous rapprochement of Armenian-Japanese ties, noted that in recent years, Japan has become more interested in Armenia, in particular, due to the path of democracy and democratic reforms.

In this context, the importance and role of democratic reforms and the establishment of democratic institutions in the further development of the country were emphasized on both sides.
