The acting President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezhas spoken with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenskyand has reiterated the support of Spain and the European Union for Ukraine in the war until “a just and lasting peace is achievedthat respects the territorial integrity” of the invaded country.
“I have spoken with President Zelensky and I have reiterated the support of Spain against Russian aggression. Ukraine is part of the European family,” Sánchez said in a message on the social network X, collected by Europa Press, in which he added: “We will be at your side as long as you needuntil a just and lasting peace is achieved, which respects the territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
Previously, the Ukrainian president wrote on social networks that he claimed to Sánchez in a call that he hopes that the Spanish Presidency of the EU Council will be “effective” to drive conversations in the face of Ukraine’s accession to the European bloc.
Zelensky thanked the Spanish people and Government for their military and political support to kyiv. “The parties discussed greater defense cooperation between the two countries,” the Ukrainian Presidency said in a statement.
