Russia will not use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Alexei Zaitsev said Russia would not use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Moreover, Russia’s use of nuclear weapons is a risk that has been publicly discussed by Western officials. But Ukraine said these would not be used in special military operations.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Minister said that Western nations should not underestimate the risks of a nuclear conflict in Ukraine. Similarly, on April 14, CIA Director William Burns warned that Russia could use potentially nuclear weapons or low-powered nuclear weapons against Ukraine. The world community was concerned that Russia’s nuclear warnings could lead to World War III.
Russia launched an offensive on February 24, insisting that Ukraine not join the NATO alliance. The war has lasted for more than 70 days, despite various phased peace efforts.
