the confusion stemmed from a circulating Facebook post that, over the past few weeks, promoted an election event. Initially, the post indicated the reception lounge at the War Memorial Centre as the location, later shifting to the Whakatāne Little Theater. However, a council spokesperson stated that both the whakatāne Little Theatre and the War Memorial Centre are fully booked on the specified date. The spokesperson emphasized that the council had not received any booking requests or payments for an election-related event at either venue.
