The meeting of the respective commissions of the two countries on the demarcation and demarcation of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan will take place at the end of January in a bilateral format. The presence of a third party is not planned. In response to the written inquiry of “Pastinfo”, the office of RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan stated that the draft regulation on the joint activities of the commissions will be discussed at the meeting.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev announced that the issue of demarcation of Kazakh-Tovuz regions will be on the agenda of the meeting scheduled for this month. With the request sent to the RA Deputy Prime Minister’s office, the media asked to confirm or deny this information. Also clarify that if it is not confirmed by what maps and principles the border demarcation works will be carried out, then on what basis will the border demarcation be carried out in the area announced by the President of Azerbaijan and is it possible that the demarcation in Tavush will be carried out in the same way as in Syunik and Gegharkunik, on the basis of GPS on. It was also interesting that if Azerbaijan is against the delimitation with concrete maps and prefers to do it with documents, to what extent this approach is acceptable for the Armenian side.
In response to all these questions, the office of the Deputy Prime Minister informed that according to the preliminary arrangements, during the next meeting of the demarcation commissions, the draft regulation on the joint activities of the commissions will be discussed first. “The project should define the types and types of legally significant documents and legal acts to be used in joint works, identify the last topographic maps of the USSR period, which were drawn up and published by competent authorities on proper legal grounds, and other similar issues.”
