For this reason, we believe that it would be irresponsible for anyone to even consider placing or using a nuclear device in space.” – said the head of the Pentagon, speaking at a hearing in the Armed Services Committee of the US House of Representatives.
At the same time, he admitted that the US military does not know what all the consequences of using nuclear weapons in space would be. “We don’t really know completely what all the consequences would be. It would depend on the power of the device, the orbit in which it would be located, on factors of this kind,” the minister explained.
