Recognizing the surge in activity around Christmas and New Year, the messaging giant is introducing a suite of new features aimed at improving usability and fostering more creative interactions between users.
Streamlining Connections During Peak Times
The update addresses a common frustration: missed calls. Now, after a missed call, users will have the option to quickly record a voice note or video note directly from a prompt, functioning as a modern answering machine and enabling more personal, visual responses. This feature is particularly valuable for those struggling to connect with loved ones during peak calling times.
Group video calls are also receiving enhancements. The app will now automatically prioritize the speaker on screen, making it easier to follow conversations in larger groups. Furthermore, users can now react to audio with emojis – dubbed “audio cats” – without interrupting the speaker, adding a new layer of non-verbal engagement.
Meta AI Takes Center Stage
A significant component of the update is the deepened integration of Meta AI within WhatsApp. The artificial intelligence assistant now boasts image generation capabilities comparable to dedicated platforms, allowing users to create and share high-quality, realistic images directly within chats and greetings.
Beyond image creation, a new animation function transforms any photo into a short video using AI, offering a creative way to personalize Statuses and add a dynamic touch to shared content.
