WhatsApp Poised to Launch Multi-Account Support for iPhone Users
Meta’s popular messaging app is reportedly nearing the release of a feature that will allow iPhone users to seamlessly manage multiple WhatsApp accounts on a single device, eliminating the need for workarounds like WhatsApp Business.
WhatsApp is streamlining its platform for users who juggle personal and professional communications. According to a report from WABetaInfo,the company is currently testing native multi-account support for its iOS app. This update, spotted by testers utilizing the TestFlight beta program, promises a more integrated experience than current solutions.
The upcoming feature will allow users to easily switch between accounts directly from the app’s Settings page. Testers have also gained access to a dedicated “Account List” section, enabling them to add or remove accounts as needed. “This update will significantly improve the user experience for those who rely on WhatsApp for both personal and work-related conversations,” noted one analyst familiar with the beta testing.
Unlike the current system, which often requires users to log out and back in to switch accounts, the new functionality will allow for instant transitions without interrupting chat history or requiring re-entry of login credentials. Similar to Instagram, each account will maintain its own independent chat logs, notification settings, and preferences.
WhatsApp first announced multi-account support for Android users in 2023, with a requirement that both SIM cards be activated on the same device. It is anticipated that a similar requirement may be implemented for iPhone users.
While a firm rollout date for the iOS version remains unclear, the fact that multiple testers are already experiencing the feature suggests a public release is imminent. “Given the current pace of testing, we anticipate this feature could be available to all iPhone users within the next few weeks,” a source close to the growth team stated.
Beyond multi-account support, WhatsApp has been actively enhancing its integration with the Apple ecosystem.Earlier this month, the company released a version of its app compatible with the Apple Watch, allowing users to read and respond to messages, and receive call and voice message notifications, directly from their wrist. to utilize this functionality, users must download version 25.34.74 from the App Store and own an Apple watch Series 4 or later running watchOS 10 or later.
