jpnn.com – Shin Tae Yong responded to rumors regarding the naturalization of a player of Indonesian descent, Calvin Verdonk.
Previously, Verdonk admitted that he was in the process of naturalization to become an Indonesian citizen (WNI).
Shin Tae Yong also said that the naturalization process for NEC Nijmegen players in the Dutch League would be completed next June.
“The player (Calvin Verdonk, ed) is currently seeking naturalization, maybe it will be finished in early June,” said the former Korean national team coach.
Verdonk is a versatile player who often occupies various positions, such as center back and left back.
This season, Verdonk has become one of Nec Nijmegen’s mainstay players, and has played 32 matches in all competitions.
Shin Tae Yong admitted that he already knew the qualities of the former Feyenoord player, and hoped that his presence could make the Indonesian national team stronger.
“I have seen firsthand the performance of these players and they are very good at helping the Indonesian national team,” he concluded.
