French President Macron was interrupted during his Hague speech on the future of Europe by spectators shouting slogans from the stands, NOS says. Macron is currently on a state visit to the Netherlands.

“Where is French democracy?” shouted one of the demonstrators holding up a banner that read: “President of violence and hypocrisy.” Macron briefly interrupted his speech and tried to respond to the protesters, but was silenced. “I can answer that question if you give me time,” he said.

After the protesters had been led out of the hall, the president continued his speech. “It is very important to discuss,” Macron said, resuming his speech. However, he wanted to talk about the future of Europe first, he added.

It is not yet clear who the protesters were.
