Which countries abstain and oppose Palestine’s membership in the United Nations?

The United Nations General Assembly adopted, by a majority, “a resolution affirming the right of the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations. 143 countries voted in favor of the draft resolution, 8 countries and Israel opposed it, while 25 abstained from voting.”

The following are the countries abstaining and opposing Palestine’s membership in the United Nations:

Abstaining countries: Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Fiji, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malawi, Marshall Islands, Monaco, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Paraguay, Moldova, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Kingdom United, Vanuatu.

Ato opposition countries: Argentina, Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, United States.

The resolution of the United Nations General Assembly stated that “The State of Palestine qualifies for membership in the United Nations in accordance with Article Four of the Charter, and therefore it should be accepted into membership in the United Nations. Accordingly, the resolution recommends that the Security Council reconsider this issue positively, in light of this.” The decision is in light of the recommendation of the International Court of Justice issued on May 28, 1948, and in full accordance with Article Four of the United Nations Charter.”
