Eve Gilles has been crowned the new “Miss France” – and not everyone likes that. The petite 20-year-old mathematics and computer science student, born near Dunkirk with roots on the island of La Réunion, wore her hair short during the beauty contest.
In the event’s 103-year history, no woman whose hair was not long had ever been honored. Viewers of the event, which was watched by 7.5 million people on French television on Sunday, accused the jury on social media of making a “woke” decision.
