The National Action Coordination Committee Expresses Deep Concern over Libyan Developments
The National Action Coordination Committee expressed deep concern over recent developments in Libya, where military movements have escalated, jeopardizing the country’s stability and security. In a statement obtained by “Ain Libya,” the committee noted that according to the political agreement, the Presidential Council bears the supreme command of the Libyan army and is responsible for preserving the security and sovereignty of the homeland.
However, the statement lamented a clear neglect of this responsibility, citing Khalifa Haftar‘s significant military movements, supported by Russia and Egypt, with the aim of controlling oil fields in Ghadames and western Libyan cities by force.
The committee raised crucial questions:
- Did Haftar coordinate with the Presidential Council before deploying these forces?
- Why has the Presidential Council taken no serious steps to halt these military movements?
- What is the role of the Attorney General and Military Prosecutor in this crisis?
The statement expressed deep concern about the power struggle in Libya, questioning who truly holds the reins of power. It accused the Presidential Council of failing to fulfill its national duties and demanded immediate steps to withdraw the invading forces. The committee also called for the Attorney General and Military Attorney General to take action.
The document emphasized that Libya is facing its most perilous phase in years, with foreign and local alliances supporting the ongoing conflict. It warned that continued foreign interference, particularly from Russia and Egypt, could lead to a fate similar to Syria.
The Coordination Committee urged all national and international forces to take urgent action to prevent further chaos and division in Libya. It called for the formation of strong political and military alliances to maintain balance of power and prevent foreign interference.
The statement concluded by emphasizing the need for unity and collective action to prevent Libya from collapsing and restoring stability and peace.
