Former RA Prime Minister Armen Darbinyan believes that negotiations with Turkey and Azerbaijan should be conducted without an intermediary country.
“Everywhere we hear such a point of view that it is not necessary to go without a mediator to reassess Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, I find such points of view painful. What, do we need to have a Russian or an American behind our backs to go to deal with our enemies? No, we will stand up and treat them with our dignity. I don’t see any problem there,” he said during the “Darbinyan’s Hour” radio program.
According to Darbinyan, Armenia is currently in a very difficult round of negotiations.
“It is a matter of the art of negotiations: where to stop, what to keep, what to give through negotiated trade and what to get in return. Unfortunately, we are facing such a situation,” said Darbinyan and added that even in this case, optimal solutions can be sought and found. According to him, it is necessary to take a step, to find solutions, otherwise tomorrow could be worse.
