The Chief Minister brought a separate resolution in the Legislative Assembly and addressed the opposition to the imposition of Hindi.
Why is the resolution against imposition of Hindi today? –
The ‘Parliamentary Committee on Official Language’ headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently submitted a report to the President. In the report given by the committee, it has been revealed that they have a hundred recommendations in front of them. All IITs, IIMs and Central Universities should make Hindi the medium of instruction; Only Hindi should be used for all administrative communications of the Union Government;
In order to make Hindi a common language, Hindi should be made the medium of instruction in all educational institutions of the central government including technical and non-technical educational institutions, Kendriya Vidyalaya schools; It has been reported that in the employment of youth, it has been said that English should be removed from the compulsory papers and only Hindi should be prioritized.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin today proposed this anti-imposition of Hindi resolution to urge the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly to urge the Union Government not to implement these recommendations given against the state languages including Tamil and against the welfare of the people who speak these languages.
Chief Minister M.K.Stal’s Speech:
“The recent report given to the President by the committee headed by Amit Shah, who is the Union Home Minister and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language, is being debated across the country today. This committee has given many recommendations which will have a great impact on the people of non-Hindi speaking states including Tamil Nadu and contrary to the promise made by Nehru who was the Prime Minister of this country.
I urge you not to accept these recommendations which are against the federal principles of the Constitution and which are against the federal principles of the Constitution and which are harmful to the multi-lingual structure of our country, leaving aside English and completely setting aside all the 22 state languages of the non-Hindi speaking state people in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.
Against the resolution of the Bilingual Policy brought and passed by Perarirjanar Anna, contrary to the promise made by Prime Minister Nehru to the non-Hindi speaking states, the resolutions passed in 1968 and 1976 regarding the official language and on the basis of which, the use of English language has been confirmed, the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee are considered as worrying. .
Tamil Nadu has once again stood as a pioneer state to protect the Tamil language, to continue English as the official language, to preserve the 22 languages in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, and to establish the rights of non-Hindi speaking people. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin categorically stated that the Union Government should not implement the recommendations given in the official language report given to the President on September 9, which is against the interests of the state languages including Tamil and the welfare of the people who speak these languages.
Historic Decision – Velmurugan:
“When the Union Minister-led committee is making Hindi compulsory in non-Hindi speaking states, it is condemnable to make Hindi compulsory for higher education and Kendra Vidyalaya schools. This decision brought by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu today is a historic decision. We welcome this on behalf of the Tamils living all over the world and on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Right to Life Party,” said Tamil Nadu Right to Life Party President Velmurugan.
Education was brought to the list to impose Hindi – Iswaran:
“Would you like to study Hindi?, Which language should you study? Parents and students have to decide that. No one has the right to interfere with it. Now it has come to light that the union government brought education to the public list only to impose Hindi.” Kongu People’s National Party Chairman Iswaran said.
Resolution reflecting the sentiments of the people of various states – Jawahirullah:
“This resolution brought by the Chief Minister reflects not only the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu but also the sentiments of the people of various states that Kannadas who do not speak Hindi are Telugus and Bengalis. On behalf of the Humanity People’s Party, I welcome the decision to reject the 11th report on language submitted by the Union Home Minister to the Presidents of the Republic. Tamil Nadu has always been the first state to protect the state languages.” Humanity People’s Party leader Jawahirullah said.
Imposition of a particular language should never be allowed – Sadhan Thirumalikumar:
“They are trying to bring in Hindi stuffing. On behalf of Revival Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, I welcome the historic resolution brought by the Chief Minister. “We should never allow the imposition of a particular language in a country where there are different states, different races, different languages and different cultures,” said legislator Sadhan Thirumalikumar, speaking on behalf of the Revival Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
India’s sovereignty must be protected – Chintavan Selvan:
“This resolution has been brought in the Legislative Assembly while we are on the alert as to who will save us. Our biology is related to the diversity of India. The DMK government has successfully planned and organized a 24-hour protest on behalf of the youth group across Tamil Nadu. Sovereignty must be protected in India. That flame of unity must be protected,” said Chintache Selvan, a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Liberation Tigers Party.
Hindi imposition to drive out non-Hindi speaking students – Nagai Mali:
“They have come up with this Hindi imposition to throw out non-Hindi speaking state students. I thank the Chief Minister who has brought a resolution against this imposition and I welcome the resolution,” said Nagai Mali, a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Marxist Communist Party.
Resolution to Protect Diversity – GK Mani:
“Language is what defines a man. India is also diverse as it finds unity in diversity both ethnically and culturally. I welcome the Chief Minister’s decision to protect it,” said GK Mani of the Proletarian People’s Party.
We will not allow imposition of Hindi in Tamil Nadu – O. Panneerselvam:
“MGR and Jayalalithaa loved the Tamil people more than life. I don’t care if I die; The anti-imposition struggle started on the basis that Tamil should live. We will not allow imposition of Hindi in Tamil Nadu in violation of Mother Tamil. The AIADMK wholeheartedly supports the resolution,” said O. Panneerselvam, Vice President of the Opposition.
Passed Resolution Against Imposition of Hindi:
“As long as the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is in power, no party can enter India,” said Duraimurugan, the leader of the party. “The situation where you can read only if you read Hindi is reminiscent of what happened 100 years ago,” the Speaker said. Following this, the government’s separate resolution against the imposition of Hindi was unanimously passed in the Assembly through a voice vote.
