Died in October US professional baseball player Tim Wakefield as a result of a brain tumor. Just five months later, his widow Stacy was also dead.
On October 1st, Tim Wakefield succumbed to complications from a brain tumor. The ex-US baseball star, who played as a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox until 2012, was 57 years old. The team announced the athlete’s death on the X platform.
Tim Wakefield is survived by his wife Stacy, his son Trevor and his daughter Brianna. Just five months later, another stroke of fate befell the two children. Her mother is also dead. Stacy Wakefield died just five months after her husband’s death.
“The loss is unimaginable”
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece and aunt Stacy passed away today at her home in Massachusetts,” the family’s statement shared on X said. While Tim Wakefield was battling a brain tumor, Stacy was also suffering from cancer.
“She was surrounded by her family and dear friends, as well as her wonderful caregivers and nurses,” the family continued. “The loss is unimaginable, especially after losing Tim almost five months ago. Our hearts are beyond broken.”
Tim was “the love of her life”
The family will remember Stacy as “a strong, loving, caring and kind person.” “We are so lucky to have had her in our lives and we take comfort in the fact that she will be reunited with Tim, the love of her life.”
Tim and Stacy Wakefield tied the knot in 2002. Two years later, their first child was born: son Trevor. Daughter Brianna followed in 2006. At the age of 19 and 17, the two of them lost their parents in a very short time.
In the statement, the family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers “who have helped Stacy from diagnosis to today – we are eternally grateful for their unparalleled care and support.”
