Robert Habeck and Andrea Paluch have been married for around 28 years. The writer now gave private insights into her marriage to the Green politician.

In 1996, today’s Economics Minister Robert Habeck married the writer Andrea Paluch, whom he met during his studies. Before he started his political career, the couple, who have four sons together, wrote books together, some of which were even made into films. This time obviously had a strong influence on both of them.

The now 54-year-old and his wife wrote several novels together, their first work called “Hauke ​​Haiens Tod” from 2001, a literary adaptation of Theodor Storm’s novella “Der Schimmelreiter”, has now been made into a film. “The Flood – Death on the Deich” will be shown on April 27th at 8:15 p.m. on ARD.

“It was very close and intense”

In “Die Welt” Andrea Paluch remembers the time in which the novel was written. “When we wrote together and had children, we were always at home together 24 hours a day. It was very close and intense,” says the 53-year-old.

That’s why the author doesn’t mind that her husband, as Vice Chancellor, travels a lot more these days than he used to. “I have the feeling that our time account has filled up so much that it’s not so bad if we don’t see each other regularly. We still see each other enough,” says Andrea Paluch.

Robert Habeck and Andrea Paluch have four sons, the twins Konrad and Anton and Jakob and Oskar. The children are now all grown up and have moved out of home. All four are studying or have studied at universities in Denmark. The family has a strong connection to the country in which Robert Habeck studied for a time and met his current wife during this time. The children attended a Danish kindergarten and a Danish school. His sons are more Danish than German, Robert Habeck told the Danish radio station DR in 2021.
