University of Arizona Launches “Wildcat Fridays” to Unite Fans Worldwide
A new initiative, Wildcat Fridays, aims to galvanize support for the University of Arizona’s athletic programs by encouraging fans globally to display their team spirit each Friday, beginning August 29. The program seeks to foster a stronger sense of community and pride among the Wildcat faithful.
A Call to Unity and Spirit
“Wildcat Fridays are an opportunity to unify our fans across the state and across the country as we show our unwavering support for our Wildcats,” said Desireé Reed-François, director of athletics. “As a proud graduate myself, we want to send a powerful message that wearing the red and blue each Friday brings us all together with the Bear Down Spirit.” The university is leveraging the deep-rooted pride associated with the Wildcats to create a visible and consistent demonstration of fan loyalty.
Expanding Fan Engagement Through Multiple Channels
The initiative extends beyond simply wearing team colors. Several complementary programs are designed to further engage the Wildcat community:
- Student-Designed Gameday Apparel: Arizona students will have the opportunity to design the official T-shirt for each home football game, sold at the Campus Store.
- Community Support: The university will donate Wildcats gear to local school counselors, extending the reach of team spirit into the educational system.
- Youth Incentive Programs: Reading programs will be implemented to reward children with tickets to football games, fostering a new generation of fans.
Gear Up and Save for Football Season
Fans looking to refresh their University of Arizona apparel will find opportunities to save. The Campus Store is offering a 25% discount on all logo clothing and gifts the Friday before each home football game. This discount is available at multiple locations – the Student Union, the A-Store at McKale Memorial Center, Campus Store Medical at 1501 N. Campbell Ave. – as well as online.
2025 Football Season Tickets Now Available
Planning for the 2025 football season is already underway, with season tickets currently on sale. The Wildcats’ home schedule boasts a competitive lineup, including games against Kansas State, Oklahoma State, BYU, Kansas, and Baylor. Fans can secure their seats by calling 520-621-CATS (2287) or purchasing tickets online.
The 2025 season kicks off on August 30 with a home game against Hawaii at Arizona Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start and will be broadcast on TNT and HBO Max, as well as the Wildcats Radio Network.
