It should be noted that the company reported to the stock exchange on the summons for investigation only today, although it itself admitted in a report that Williger received the summons as early as February 27.
Williger is expected to be questioned tomorrow, apparently against the background of the alleged price coordination affair, which led the PA to raid, among other places, the offices of Shufersal and Strauss. The controlling owner of Williger was recently interviewed by the media, and this may be why he was called to the PA offices.
The argument is that the marketing chains and food companies have hinted to each other in the media that it is time to raise prices. Some of the companies even realized their intention and raised prices. Some have withdrawn following boycott threats, and the ministers of economy and finance who have announced they will not hesitate to take action against them.
The affair exploded in November 2021. Initially, PA investigators raided the offices of Shufersal and Strauss, collected materials and investigated senior companies, including retiring Shufersal CEO Itzik Aberhahn and Strauss CEO Giora Bar-De’a.
