No other film in Mohanlal’s recent career can claim the special place the Drishyam franchise holds among audiences. When Drishyam 2 arrived, one of the questions director Jeethu Joseph faced in every interview was whether there would be a third part to the film. Jeethu’s answers did not rule out such a possibility. Now there is a lot of hype going on in social media that the announcement of a third such part will happen soon. Meanwhile, no response has come out from the cast. At the same time, there is a lot of anticipation for such an announcement from social media.
There are reports that the official announcement of a big project with Mohanlal in the lead role may be made on August 17, which is Singham One. Fans speculate that it might be about Drishyam 3 or Empuran. Mohanlal, who has completed the shooting of his first directorial venture Burrows, will now participate in Jeethu Joseph’s own overseas schedule of Ram, which was crippled during the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, Prithviraj had already informed about the completion of the script of Empuran. The pre-production of this big budget film will begin early next year.
Meanwhile, Jeethu Joseph had earlier said that he has the climax of Drishyam 3. In a press conference after the release of Drishyam 2 Jeethu Joseph had this to say about Drishyam 3 possibilities…
“When the scene was finished, there was no plan for the second part. I thought that a second part could not be made. I thought that the story was over and the movie was over. Then in 2015, when many people started making the story, I tried as Anthony said. But I got it. I can’t say anything about the third part now. Because I said at first that there won’t be a second part. Then the film was done. If I get a good idea, I will do it. But I will not do it after seeing a business aspect. If a good story suitable for Drishyam 3 comes, I will definitely do it. In fact, I have the climax of Drishyam 3 in my hands. But only the climax. Nothing else. When I shared it with Laleton, he liked it. .But to reach this climax many events have to happen.So there is no compulsion to happen. Won’t happen. It will take at least two or three years. Because I feel that it will take at least that much time to develop the script. I told Anthony it would take six years. Anthony said that six years is a long time and if possible in two or three years it would be good. Let’s see, it has been said that there is no certainty.”
