Will Neymar play in the 2026 World Cup? The actor responded to his retirement rumours

by time news

Brazil superstar Neymar had initially said that the Qatar World Cup would probably be the last World Cup of his career.

But when superstar Lionel Messi lifted the world crown in Qatar, the actor changed his stance. Neymar said that age is no barrier and Messi has proved it and said that he will play in the next World Cup.

Brazil, who entered the World Cup as the title favourites, lost to Croatia in the quarter-finals after a shocking defeat. Then Neymar left the field crying. Speaking to the media after the match, the player said,

‘To be honest I don’t know what’s going to happen next. It’s hard to talk about it now. I can’t guarantee anything. It will take some time to think about it.’

But a few days after the World Cup, the player announced that his decision had changed.

‘Of course I have a big dream. It is to win the World Cup. Leo is always an inspiration. He has helped me a lot. To be world champion at 35 is a big deal. I’m thinking about it,’ Neymar said.

The Economic Times reported that in Neymar’s latest interview, the player spoke about the issue and hinted that he would play in the 2026 World Cup.

Neymar has scored 77 goals in 124 matches for Brazil. He is just one goal away from breaking the legendary Pele’s record.
