The wine grower Xavier Gramona, founding member and first president of corpinate, has died at the age of 63. Gramona was a benchmark in the wine sector in Catalonia and headed, with his cousin Jaume, the fifth generation of the century-old Gramona winery, makers of long-aged sparkling wines in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. In April 2018, six large wineries (Gramona, Llopart, Nadal, Recaredo, Sabaté and Coca i Torelló) decided to promote Corpinnat, a new brand to ‘position’ the quality sparkling wines made in Penedèsand subsequently left the OF Cava. “My condolences to the family and friends of Xavier Gramona, a benchmark in the wine sector and tireless entrepreneur”, recalled the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès.

The eleven wineries that make up the Corpinnat brand also wanted to show their dismay at the death of Xavier Gramona Sande, who was a founding member and the first president of the brand. “The values ​​of appreciation for the peasantry and the territory that he always defended with conviction and firmness are today one of the main pillars of our organization and the best legacy he could leave us”, they pointed out from Corpinnat.

“If Corpinnat is a reality today, it is, to a large extent, thanks to his contributions and the personal commitment he dedicated to it. The name of Xavier Gramona will forever be more associated with Corpinnat and the values ​​that identify our brand”, he emphasizing the brand of quality sparkling wines made in the Penedès. Gramona was also vice president of the Catalonia Culture Foundation, which has also been dejected by the loss and has claimed his figure as an “example of generosity and commitment to the Foundation”. The entity was created in 2014 to promote collaboration between the business, cultural and society sectors.
