Winemakers asked for a moratorium on a new law on wine products

by time news

Several industry associations of Russian winemakers sent a letter to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin with a request to introduce a moratorium on the law on new requirements for wine products. They stated that the law did not comply with the standards of GOST and other regulations.

The appeal was signed by the heads of the self-regulatory organization “Winemaking Union”, the association of winegrowers and winemakers “Sevastopol”, the Association of Sparkling Wine Producers and other associations, Vedomosti reports. The authenticity of the document was confirmed by employees of the two associations. The government sent a letter to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Boris Katryukhin, director of the SRO Vinodelchesky Soyuz, explained that new names have appeared in the law that do not meet the standards. For example, according to GOST, “table wine” should be referred to as “ordinary wine”, and “wine drink” – as “grape-containing drink”. The appeal notes that changes need to be made to the Tax Code, product classifiers and other documents.

Manufacturers have faced problems when interacting with federal retailers due to the new law. So, “Auchan” demanded a letter of guarantee that the supplier will reimburse possible losses.

Amendments to the law on the regulation of the alcohol market came into force in early July. Because of him, Moet Hennessy, which supplies champagne from the Champagne province, faced problems. The company has suspended the supply of products due to the fact that it must label it as sparkling wine.

About the problem – in the material “Kommersant” “Champagne means Soviet”.
