Hernaz Sandau from India is Miss Universe for the year 2021. Sandau is an actress in India and the daughter of a successful gynecologist. In interviews with her, she said that she drew a lot of inspiration from her mother who broke the patriarchal structure that is still common in her homeland and decided to acquire an education and later pursue an independent career as a doctor.
In addition to her acting career, Sandau is a social activist for women’s rights, and encourages women in her homeland to acquire an education and pursue their own careers. She also tends to accompany her mother to health complexes across India. Last October, Sandau even arrived at a health complex set up in the poor suburbs of Delhi, where a delegation of Israeli doctors from Ichilov Hospital took part. At a press conference held alongside doctors and Israel’s ambassador to India, Naor Gilon. Sandau explained to Indian women the importance of early detection of breast and cervical cancer and encouraged them to come and get tested. Boa caused a huge buzz in India and significantly increased the number of women who came to the complex.

The 70th ceremony in number was held this year for the first time in Israel, in the city of Eilat, in the shadow of the corona. After a little more than two weeks in which the contestants from 81 different countries traveled around the country and enjoyed various activities (including visits to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Acre, the Dead Sea and Eilat), the grand final took place (at two in the morning) in a complex set up in the port of Eilat.
The ceremony was opened by Noa Kirl with the song “Bad Little Thing”, and before the announcement of the new Miss Universe, singer Harel Skaat, singer Narkis, and singer Valery Hamati took the stage, singing Leonard Cohen’s famous song “Hallelujah” in Hebrew, English and Arabic.
Kochba did rise as big on stage, but unfortunately, shortly after the ceremony began, the 16 finalists who qualified for the final were announced, and she was not included among them. The ceremony was opened by Noa Kirl with the song “Bad Little Thing”. The ceremony was moderated by the popular American comedian Steve Harvey, who opened his remarks with excited cries in Hebrew: “Israel! Israel! Peace.” Harvey is leading the ceremony for the sixth year in a row, when for the first time his daughter, Lori Harvey, 24, who took part in the judging panel, also joined him this time. “The ceremony has always been considered for me one of the most exciting events of the year,” Harvey, who also serves as the show’s producer, said in an interview with People magazine last week. “At every ceremony I am amazed at the beautiful and smart women who take the stage, and I feel so blessed to share this experience with my daughter this year.”

The judging panel also included Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima, TV presenter and Miss Universe for 2017, Frenchwoman Iris Meitner, American model and entrepreneur Lori Harvey, Indian Bollywood star Orbshi Ratula, Filipino actress Marian Rivera, star of telenovela and telenovela , American Rina Sofer.
Immediately after the opening remarks, Harvey announced that the time had come to announce the 16 finalists. The first was Miss France, followed by, in order were Miss Colombia, Miss Singapore, Miss Panama, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Bahamas, Miss Japan, Miss Britain, Miss America, Miss India, Miss Vietnam, Miss Aruba, Miss Paraguay, Miss Philippines , Miss Venezuela and Miss South Africa. Throughout the program, the link sections featured the contestants visiting Israel, enjoying the views and savoring the food. In the middle of the program, the commentators of the ceremony even invited Rina Moore to their broadcast station, saying that she was so excited that the organizers of the ceremony chose to hold his 70th birthday celebrations in Israel, her homeland, that she could show everyone her beautiful country.
After host Harvey announced the narrowing of the list, from 16 to 10 finalists, American singer JoJo took the stage and sang one of her hits, and at that time the final and excited contestants came up one after the other.
