Commercial aviation in Brazil carried nearly 10 million passengers in September, ranking the month the best September in history in terms of movement. With the industry’s view that levels are expected to be maintained for this and the next two months, the country could see its largest passenger movement in history.
According to data from the National Agency for Civil Aviation (Anac), in September this year 7.9 million passengers were reached in national transport, an increase of 4% compared to 2023, a volume even higher than the 7 .8 million in September 2019, before the covid -19 pandemic.
Also in September this year, the country’s international market carried 2 million passengers, 11% more than the 1.8 million in September 2023, also higher than the 1.9 million in September 2019.
In the first nine months of 2024, including the national and international markets, air transport reached 110.3 million passengers, 15% more than that recorded in the same period of 2023.
Among years with consolidated numbers for all 12 months, the current record for passenger movement is 2019, when 142 million traveled. If we repeated the same 2023 numbers for October, November and December, 2024 would end up with 145 million passengers carried.
