On May 22, Elisabeth Borne revealed part of France’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Philippe Herlin, economist and author of a study on the energy transition for the Thomas More Institute, gives us his analysis.

“We create a false challenge, in order to hide those to which we are unable to respond”

Elisabeth Borne wants to accelerate the fight against CO² emissions by 2030. The timetable is in fact already set by the EU. This plan provides for a stricter energy rating for real estate, below which an owner could no longer rent out his property. Factories will also have to get up to speed and reduce their CO² emissions.

The Prime Minister’s proposals are in addition to the ban on thermal engines planned by 2035. On May 22, the Court of Auditors also published a report which recommends reducing the number of cattle in France to reduce the footprint carbon.

For our guest,we are not asking the right scientific questions about global warming“. All these measurements are taken on the basis of IPCC models, but they are only forecasts. “Of course there are ecological concerns that must be taken into account, but CO² is not a pollutant, it is food for plants”, continues the economist, before adding: “we waste money on something that is not ecological”.
