Sharjah ആദ്യ The first plant in the UAE to fully convert waste into energy has been completed. Sharjah will soon become the first clean city in the Middle East on a trial basis.
The plant was built by CNIM, a French company, of Emirates Waste to Energy Company, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi ‘Mazdar’ and Bia, which is in charge of waste treatment in Sharjah.
At present 76% of waste is used for power generation but now 100% can be used. The project has the dual benefit of eliminating waste completely and generating energy.
The first phase is expected to generate more than 24 megawatts of energy. It also increases employment opportunities.
There are also projects aimed at purifying water using non-conventional energy, storing non-conventional energy, developing batteries and other systems for it, and eliminating environmental pollution.
28,000 homes will be electrified
Bia Group CEO: Khalid Al Huraimal said that once the plant is operational at full capacity, it will be able to generate 3 million tonnes of waste-free energy per year. 28,000 homes will be electrified. It can eliminate 4.5 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions per year. A solar panel has been installed above the landfill.
Bia has also launched a project to produce biodiesel from waste oil. The plan to produce biodiesel from waste oil, grease and fat is expected to lead to a revolutionary breakthrough in the transport sector.
