From today in bookstores the final novel of the cycle started by Edoardo Nesi in 1995: it is entitled “The Wolves Inside” and is published by La Nave di Teseo. In fact, the author returns to tell the story of the forgetful and senseless world in which we find ourselves living and chooses to do so with this heartfelt and poignant novel through the character with which he made his debut in fiction.

Fede Carpini, already the protagonist of “Fughe da ferme”, was at the center of his successful debut: now he chases the impossible dream of having a great day once again, before having the little belongings he has left taken away by bailiffs: sign of a heritage conquered by his father in the shining golden age of the 1980s, which then vanished in a few years with the advent of globalization. While he lives that day as if it were his last, carrying to the limit a shapeless figure of a former handsome man, now in his sixties, and his old Porsche 964, the memories of an era and an incomparably better life will accompany him. The reemergence of Ginevra’s face, the most beautiful woman in the world, will caress him and, at the same time, torment him.

Smiling bitterly, often laughing, they celebrate an unparalleled life, a lost era and a colossal defeat. But this last day will have to be sensational, brazen and excessive, as it has been throughout Carpini’s life. Accelerated, pressing, comic and tragic, instilled with the vital force that forces us to look forward even when a tear of emotion inevitably appears. Nesi received the Strega Prize in 2011 with “History of my people” on the textile reality of Prato, where the writer was born on 9 November 1964.
